Thermo Pine Sauna Board
- Thermally treated pine wood without the use of chemicals – a versatile solution for façades, wall cladding, decorative elements, and canopies.
Thermo pine wood is processed without chemicals by heating it to 160–230°C. During this process, excess moisture is removed from the wood, reducing its ability to absorb and release moisture from the surrounding environment.
As a result of the treatment, the natural structure of the wood is preserved, while its internal structure is modified at the cellular level. The process breaks down sugars and nutrients in the wood, improving durability and resistance to biological damage.
Features
High resistance to external weather conditions
Reduced risk of cracking
Stable and uniform surface and colour tone
Longer service life
Reduced need for cleaning and chemical protection products
Available grades
AB grade– Good visual quality
Knots: allowed and mostly sound (black knots up to 15 mm permitted).
Cracks: small cracks along the grain are acceptable (up to 10 cm on the visible side of the board; up to 25% of the board length on the non-visible side), non-penetrating.
Resin pockets: small pockets (up to 50 mm) permitted.
Colour: slight shade variations allowed.
Bruising: minimal and only local.
Defects: rot and insect damage are not allowed. Through cracks are allowed only at the end of the board and must not exceed the width of the board.
Heat treatment process
The wood is first dried, reducing the moisture content to a very low level, which may approach 0%.
Afterwards, the wood is conditioned with steam to restore flexibility and stability, reaching an optimal moisture content of 4-8%, suitable for further processing and use.
Planing Options
Depending on the processing requirements, different planing solutions can be selected.
A smoothly planed surface is suitable for transparent finishes that highlight the natural texture of the wood.
Properties of thermo wood
Thermo wood is highly resistant to external environmental conditions such as moisture, temperature fluctuations, mould, fungi, and rot. This makes it suitable for outdoor spaces and structures where durability and longevity are required.
Thermo-treated wood is also more dimensionally stable, meaning it expands and contracts less, reducing the risk of cracking or deformation.
It provides a stable and uniform surface and colour tone. The material is suitable for preserving the natural appearance of wood or for further finishing (tinting, oiling, varnishing, etc.), depending on project requirements.
Due to the thermal treatment process, thermo wood also offers a longer service life and requires less maintenance and fewer chemical preservatives.
Processing services
We offer high-quality processing services for companies and private customers.
Industrial wood painting - an automated industrial process that ensures a uniform and durable coating, protection against external factors, and a long-lasting aesthetic appearance for façades, terraces, fences, and interior finishes.
Brushing (wood aging) - a process in which the softer layers of wood fibres are removed with a brush, giving the material a textured, aged appearance that creates a modern and cosy atmosphere in interiors.
* Up to 5% of purchased finishing boards may not fully meet the specified quality grade (possible mechanical damage, loose knots, end cracks, rot, or insect damage).
* Before purchasing, please consult the seller
